Wilhelm Maybach, the name patron of our college, was born in Heilbronn in 1846. For many years he was Gottlieb Daimler’s business partner and master car designer, pioneering many solutions in car design which are still in use up to the present day.
In 1909 he founded – together with his son Karl Maybach – a company called Maybach Motorenbau GmbH, which built airship engines and in later years luxury cars.
One of these Maybach cars, an SW 38 model, was rebuilt by teachers and students of Wilhelm-Maybach-Schule in a decade-long project from original parts that had been collected from all over Europe.
